Off-duty Dallas officer shot during robbery attempt in Fort Worth, police say

An off-duty Dallas police officer was shot Sunday as two people tried to rob his wife in Fort Worth, police say.

The man, whose name was not released, was hospitalized in stable condition, Dallas police officials said.

Fort Worth officers were called to Northeast 21st Street and North Main Street shortly before 5 p.m. after the robbers tried to steal the woman’s purse.

The officer was wounded in the chest while he tried to prevent the theft, police said.

Fort Worth police arrested one person but did not provide any details about the suspect.
