Man said he killed wife, 2 teens because he had a headache and they were loud, according to Dallas police

Dallas officers found three people dead Monday in Far East Dallas after a man reported he had shot his wife and two children, police say.

Deputy Chief Reuben Ramirez said after officers were called about 11 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of John West Road, near Big Town Boulevard, they took the man into custody to be interviewed at police headquarters.

James Lee Webb, 57, was later arrested on a charge of capital murder. His bail had not been set Monday night, and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.

When police did a preliminary search of the apartment, they found three people who had been fatally shot — 35-year-old Victoria Bunton and two teenage boys, ages 16 and 13. A handgun and shell casings were found inside the home.

The teenagers’ names have not been released.

“This is a horrible scene,” Ramirez said. “This is a horrific incident. Our hearts go out to everyone who’s touched by this.”

According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, Webb told detectives he had started arguing with Bunton around 10 a.m. because he had a headache and the children were being too loud.

He shot Bunton at least twice, then shot the teenagers, the affidavit says. After that, he waited an hour and then called 911 through a medical alert device, according to the document.

In an interview with detectives, Webb said that he was tired of the three victims yelling and saying that there was nothing wrong with him, so he shot them, the affidavit says.

Homicide detectives obtained a warrant to search the apartment as residents stood behind police tape at the complex Monday afternoon.

Chanel Lockhart, who said she was the victims’ next-door neighbor, was heartbroken by the news.

She didn’t identify the victims but recalled the woman for her kindness and said the teenagers were intelligent.

”Very intelligent,” Lockhart said. “Very intelligent, y’all. And … [the woman] had a heart. She was so sweet to everybody.”
