Starting the week warmer, more humid, and with a better chance for rain

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It’s a warm start to the work week, with temperatures Monday morning only dropping to the mid 70s. An increase in humidity is also noticeable as you step outside, with southerly winds bringing in Gulf moisture and helping the dew point to creep back up to the low to mid 70s. High temperatures today will reach the mid 80s, similar to where we topped out yesterday. A cool front will move south through Texas tomorrow but it looks like it will stall north of Southeast Texas. This will leave us on the warm and muggy side of the front.

A summer-like pattern will also return with a chance for rain each day during the work week…peaking in the afternoon and winding down as the sun sets. Most of the rain should be showers but a couple of isolated storms cannot be ruled out. I’ve left the rain chances at 30% for the entire viewing area, though high resolution models this morning are depicting a slightly higher probability of rain for the city of Houston itself.

Our next cool front is penciled in for Saturday. There is still some uncertainty on how strong this front will be once it reaches Southeast Texas, but if it holds, it could bring back below normal temperatures for next weekend.
