TEDxPlano to focus on business challenges at upcoming event

A presentation and workshop on corporate learning, personal innovation and entrepreneurship will take place at The Box Garden at Legacy Hall in Plano on Oct. 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The scaled down “salon” event is organized by TEDxPlano, an independent TED organization. The event will take attendees from listening to idea-makers on stage to participating within a small group environment.

The speakers will be: Roger Widmer and Michael Thomas.

  • Roger Widmer is CEO of Collin Corporate College and will discuss current business employment trends, training, culture and higher education. Widmer, a higher education professional for more than 30 years, has been both a professor and an administrator. He holds a master’s degree in counseling from Liberty University and a doctorate in higher education administration from University of Sarasota.
  • Michael Thomas, executive director of My Possibilities in Plano will talk about corporate partnerships to hire adults with disabilities. The non-profit focuses on continued education in life skills, social skills and job training for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including placing adults with disabilities into community employment.

Admission is free but registration is required and attendees are advised to arrive early as seating is limited. Due to pandemic safety measures, attendees will be asked to wear a mask and stay at least six feet apart from others.

Additionally, no outside food or drinks are allowed but guests may purchase a dinner from one of Legacy Hall’s eateries and bars.
