17-year-old indicted on murder charge after fatal shooting of man found at east Oak Cliff church

A 17-year-old has been indicted on a murder charge after the fatal shooting of a man who was found at an east Oak Cliff church in August.

A Dallas County grand jury handed down the indictment against Dekalyn Antwone Davis-Hooker earlier this month.

Officers were called the evening of Aug. 14 to Abraham Baptist Church in the 3000 block of Alabama Avenue and made contact with 20-year-old Isacc Spencer, who had been shot. Spencer was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Witnesses reported seeing two men drive off from the scene.

Davis-Hooker, who has no apparent previous criminal history, was arrested Aug. 20 and remains in custody. His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

Court records show that Davis-Hooker sought to have his bail reduced from $500,000 following his arrest. A judge found that he was indigent but lowered the bail only to $300,000, finding that he “poses a great danger to the community” because of Spencer’s slaying and a possible gang affiliation.
