It’s finally happening!
After much hoopla on social media with users falsely claiming Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari got engaged in secret, the day has finally arrived.
The bride to be tweeted ahead of her engagement which is slated to take place at 4 pm today at Bilawal House in Karachi.
“Very sentimental and emotional day. So grateful for everyone’s love and prayers. Especially our PPP family whom I know are eager to participate. InshAllah this is only the beginning – will be able to celebrate in a post Covid world. Please keep SMBB and our family in your prayers,” she wrote.
What we know so far
Bakhtawar’s beau is Mahmood Chaudhry, “the son of Mohammad Younas and Begum Suraiya Choudhry who hail from the old town of Lahore, Pakistan. Mr Younas migrated to the United Arab Emirates in 1973 where through hard-work he established businesses in the construction and transport industry,” the formal announcement read.
The party also revealed that Mahmood was the last born of 5 siblings and born in the city of Abu Dhabi on July 28, 1988 (which makes him 32 years old).
“He completed his primary schooling in Abu Dhabi and secondary schooling in the United Kingdom. Mahmood further went on to study law at the University of Durham.”
Choudhry’s country of residence will remain the UAE, where he runs businesses in construction, finance and tech, the party confirmed.
After the couple’s engagement, they will also be hosting a mehndi, scheduled for January 27, 2021, at the same venue — and all attendees have been requested to email a scanned copy of their negative Covid-19 PCR test result 24 hours prior to the event. The function today will be an intimate affair with just relatives and close friends of Bakhtawar and sister, Asifa Bhutto-Zardari.
Unfortunately, her brother, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has contracted coronavirus, is self-isolating and will not be in attendance; her father, Asif Ali Zardari will be present for two hours.
No word on what or who she’ll be wearing but when Images had asked around, sources in Bilawal House revealed that Bakhtawar has decided to fashion her dress after Benazir’s style — but not necessarily one particular dress. Sources also said the chances of the dress being green in colour are very high. Guess we’ll find out soon enough!
