Get involved with these D-FW volunteer opportunities

Many nonprofit organizations are temporarily closed for personal interactions because of COVID-19 social distancing procedures, but opportunities still exist to help out, including many virtually. Christian Community Action (CCA) seeks holiday helping hands in the following ways:

Homemade stocking help: Handmade stockings are needed for a gift outreach program for 2,000 children and teens. Stockings are made from a uniform pattern, available at Quilt Country, 701 S. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 90, Lewisville. Deliver to CCA by Dec. 14 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Distribute gifts: Individuals and groups of volunteers are sought Dec. 14-18 to direct traffic, take photos, greet families and load gifts into vehicle trunks. Shifts: 12:30-3 p.m. and 2:30-6 p.m.

Giving Tree station volunteers: Take donations of toys for children in need at CCA’s donation stations, located at Music City Mall in Lewisville and Frisco’s Stonebriar Centre.

Love in Motion

COVID-19 medical appreciation project: Join the volunteer-led nonprofit’s effort to show appreciation to health care providers with hand-written note cards. For information, a sample note and delivery directions.

Box of Balloons

The nonprofit works with community social workers to provide birthday parties for children who otherwise wouldn’t get a celebration. Volunteers can choose to donate or make birthday box party items. To join the Dallas, Collin or Fort Worth volunteer teams, head to.

Feonix Mobility Rising

Drivers needed: Dallas County volunteers are needed to help transport people to and from drive-through food pantries and other essential trips. Drivers must own their vehicles and have a good driving record. Volunteers receive health and safety training based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
