$20,000 reward offered in case of Dallas man who disappeared after leaving Uptown gym in October

A family is looking for answers after a Dallas man disappeared nearly two months ago after leaving a gym in Uptown Dallas.

James Alan White, 55, was last seen at 5:38 a.m. Oct. 22 leaving LA Fitness on Haskell Avenue, KTVT-TV (Channel 11) and WFAA-TV (Channel 8) reported. Surveillance video from the gym shows White getting into his car and driving off.

The car he was seen driving away in, a black Porsche Macan loaner, was found Oct. 29 by the Dallas Police Department, according to WFAA.

The car was found in southeast Oak Cliff, near Bonnie View Road and Simpson Stuart Road, police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez said.

She said at the time that there was a “want to locate” report for White on file. Such reports are filed when relatives want to get in touch with someone they have had trouble contacting.

In November, police said that White is now considered an “endangered missing” person due to “recent developments in the investigation” but did not elaborate on those developments. As of early December the case was being handled by the Police Department’s special investigations unit.

No other information about White’s disappearance or how his car was found was available, Gutierrez said.

White is married and works for the KPMG accounting company, according to WFAA. His family said they don’t believe he decided to vanish.

“He had no reason to up and leave; that’s what is mind-boggling,” his brother, Tim White, told KTVT. “The short distance between the gym and home, how he could just disappear, that’s the hardest part.”

His family has hired a private investigator and is offering a $20,000 reward for information to help find him.

His loved ones also have posted fliers about his disappearance. According to the fliers, White is 5-11 and weighs about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light grey tank top and dark gym shorts and had a navy and maroon Coach sling bag with him.
