Warm Sunday, but cooler, rainy weather is coming

With continued sunshine and a south wind, the warming trend will continue through the weekend with highs reaching the low 70s. It will also be windy on Sunday. As dry as it has been lately, that means an elevated fire concern on Saturday and especially Sunday. Be sure to avoid any activities that could ignite sparks and fires.

A cold front will move through the region during the afternoon and evening, with a shift in the wind direction. No rain is expected with this first front.

The next strong storm system will head our way the middle of the week, with widespread light rain showers on Tuesday and then thunderstorms Tuesday night and Wednesday. The rain should end around midday Wednesday, followed by clearing skies late in the day. It will then turn significantly cooler for New Year’s Eve.
