Organisers of PDM’s Bannu rally booked

PESHAWAR: The Bannu district police have registered a case against the local leaders and organisers of Pakistan Democratic Movement’s rally held on Wednesday at the sports complex in Bannu.

According to the FIR registered by SHO Imranullah Khattak of the city’s Saddar police station, organisers of the rally forcibly entered the sports complex and demolished its backside wall to make arrangements for the rally.

The PDM had organised an impressive rally in the city which was addressed by the alliance chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other senior leaders.

The FIR stated that the local leaders of various political parties associated with the PDM broke into the sports complex and started fixing sound systems and lights and arranging chairs, containers and tents in the ground. Besides, workers of catering services were also busy in making the arrangements.

It stated that holding big public gatherings was against the standard operating procedures of coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, the regional sports officer through a letter had recently placed ban on all private and official functions in the sports complex except sports activities.
