Arlington gave more than 6,500 people the COVID-19 vaccine last week, as immunizations continue

Arlington on Monday began its third week of distributing the COVID-19 vaccine at the city’s Esports Stadium and Expo Center, as Gov. Greg Abbott visited the vaccination site to give up an update on the state’s unprecedented immunization campaign.

Last week more than 6,500 people were vaccinated at the site, 1,800 of them on Friday alone, according to the city. Vaccinations will continue at the Arlington site each day this week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents seeking a vaccination should register through the Tarrant County Public Health’s website for a time slot. In the early stages of the vaccine rollout, doses are being reserved for frontline health care workers, first responders, people over the age of 65 and people with certain underlying health conditions who are especially vulnerable to the virus.

Residents who have received their first dose of the vaccine will receive an email from Tarrant County about where and when they can receive their second dose.

The state has guaranteed that it will provide Arlington with enough vaccines to cover both doses, according to the city.

The fire department and city communications staffers have also put together answers to frequently asked questions about getting vaccinated in Arlington on the city’s website.
