Imran to head PTI board for awarding Senate tickets

ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has formed an 11-member parliamentary board headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan for award of tickets for upcoming Senate elections.

According to a notification issued by PTI Central Secretariat, Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the board comprising Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, KP Governor Shah Farman, Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Planning Minister Asad Umar, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and PTI Secretary General Aamir Kayani.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has invited applications from the candidates for senate elections.

According to a press release, PPP Secretary General Farhatullah Babar said that the candidates should send their applications addressed to the PPP president along with a bank draft of Rs100,000 in the name of PPP.

The applications should reach Zardari House Islamabad or Bilawal House Karachi by Feb 8.

Senate Elections are likely to be held next month as 52 senators are going to retire — 50 percent of the 104-member house — on March 11, after completing their six-year tenure.
