3 found dead after SWAT standoff at far northeast Dallas apartment complex, police say

Three people were found dead after a SWAT standoff at an apartment complex in far northeast Dallas Sunday, police said.

Officers responded to an active shooter call that was later upgraded to a shooting call at an apartment complex the 9800 block of Summerwood Circle about 4:30 p.m., police said.

As police approached the building, a suspect fired shots at the officers, striking squad car. SWAT was called and made several attempts to get the suspect to surrender, police said.

SWAT officers entered the apartment about 7 p.m. and found two women and a man dead of gunshot wounds.

Police did not release the identities of the victims.

Officers did not discharge their weapons and no officers were injured, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. No further information was available.
