Much colder weather is coming

Sunday began with cloudy skies, but sunshine,, south winds and milder temperatures made for a much nicer afternoon. Some clouds will return again Monday morning, but like on Sunday, we expect sunshine and even warmer temperatures Monday afternoon.

The first in a series of strong cold fronts will arrive Monday night. Temperatures will fall significantly Tuesday and later in the week North Texas will experience the coldest weather so far this winter. There will be several days this next week where high temperatures do not make it out of the 30s. Low temperatures will dip into the 20s, perhaps for five or six consecutive mornings.

Precipitation will be rather light, but some rain may begin on Wednesday, and a mix of light rain and sleet may fall Wednesday night into Thursday. No significant accumulation of sleet is expected. There may be another chance for wintry precipitation early the following week. But at this point it is too early to pinpoint the timing or the type of precipitation.
