PIA starts lifting kinnow cargo for UK

RAWALPINDI: Following the government’s efforts to promote exports, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has started lifting kinnow cargo for the United Kingdom.

A PIA spokesman said that in line with the government’s policy to increase export, the PIA had started delivery of Pakistani kinnows to Manchester after two decades.

He said that 2,200kg of kinnows were exported by PIA’s first cargo flight PK9701 as the PIA would not regularly carry kinnow cargo.

Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan had issued special instructions regarding promotion of cargo as the PIA will play its full role in the government’s policy of promoting the country’s exports.

Pakistan has registered a record increase in export of fruits and vegetables during 2019-20, despite the coronavirus global pandemic and earned the highest revenue in terms of foreign exchange.
