Trucker fatally shot man who tried to steal from his vehicle at northwest Dallas gas station, police say

The driver of an 18-wheeler fatally shot a man who tried to steal from his truck last week in northwest Dallas, police say.

Officers were called about 4:30 a.m. Thursday to the Fuel City Friendly’s gas station in the 10000 block of Harry Hines Boulevard, at Loop 12, where they found 27-year-old Jamarcious Hill wounded in the parking lot.

Hill had been shot multiple times, and he was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital, police said.

According to police, witnesses said that Hill had gotten into an 18-wheeler and taken property.

The witnesses said that Hill pulled out a weapon when the driver confronted him, and that the driver then shot him, police said. Authorities did not say what that weapon was or whether they recovered any weapons from the scene.

Police interviewed the driver, whom they did not publicly identify, and he was released. Police said the case would be referred to a Dallas County grand jury.
