Soak in the sun before the sea fog returns for days

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Tuesday will be almost an exact carbon copy of Monday: A cool start in the 40s but then sunny and in the 70s.

You’ll want to enjoy this sunshine while you can because the sky will cloud over Wednesday ahead of our next cool front, and we may not see much of the sun until sometime next week.

Are there anymore freezes on the way?
We are done with freezes for the rest of our 10 day forecast! It’s possible winter has another freeze left in it, but 50% of the time Houston is done with freezes after February 19th.

Then how cold will it get behind the next cold front?
That’s difficult to determine at this time because we expect the next front to stall out somewhere near Houston on Thursday. If the front clears your neighborhood, you’ll have a tough time warming out of the 50s under a cloudy sky. If the front stalls to your north, you’ll be stuck in the 70s with sea fog.

When is the sea fog coming back and how long will it stick around?
Sea fog will return to Galveston as early as Tuesday night, but it could reach all the way into Houston by Wednesday night ahead of the next front. The sea fog is likely to linger all the way through the weekend as it will take some time for the cold shelf waters to warm up and stop making the fog.

Will we have any rain chances this week?

Rain chances will return to the forecast Wednesday as humid air rolls in ahead of the front. Our best chance of rain looks to be on Thursday when the front stalls out somewhere over Southeast Texas.

How is the weekend shaping up?
At this time we expect the front to lift north on Friday, bringing in mild, humid air for the weekend. That means you can expect lows in the 60s and highs in the 70s with lots of clouds and, yes, more sea fog. A few showers are also possible both days.
