Dexter the dog’s weight loss journey to culminate in marriage

Dexter the dog once weighed 82 pounds, which is an issue if you are a Brittany spaniel.

Male Brittanys usually average about half that weight, but Dexter had an elderly owner who overfed him.

When Dexter became a rescue pup, his foster mother put him on a diet, according to KXAS-TV (NBC5). That was August 2019.

Now, a year and a half later, Dexter has not only lost the weight but he’s getting married too.

The dog’s journey, which has been documented on Facebook, has captivated followers.

Brittany Rescue In Texas Inc. has summed up his courtship with Mia, another Brittany who was initially just a foster dog like Dexter, in a video montage on its Facebook page.

The star-crossed canines are set to wed on the shores of Lake Grapevine May 1 at the organization’s BRIT Fest.
