Showers and maybe a storm return for your Thursday morning commute

Thursday morning. Ahead of the front, coastal areas will see the development of dense seas fog. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 am today.

As the front nears around sunrise, we’ll have a chance for showers and a couple of storms. The severe weather threat looks to be low at this time. The best chance of severe storms will be east of the Houston area. Once the front moves through Thursday morning, we will see sunshine, a humidity drop and breezy conditions.

Are we expecting any severe weather this week?
As a cool front nears the Houston area Thursday morning, we will be on the edge of what could potentially turn into a significant severe weather outbreak. The front will give us showers and maybe a thunderstorm. A warm layer of air aloft will prevent severe storm from developing over us. The worst of the severe weather will be well to our east centered around Mississippi. By Thursday afternoon we are done with the threat of any storms this week.

How is the weekend weather shaping up?
A weak cold front will push through over the weekend, bringing clouds and a slight chance for rain both Saturday and Sunday.

Are we done with freezes?
We are more than likely done with freezes this season, and there are currently no freezes in our 10-day forecast. If you’re wanting to put plants in the ground, you’re more than likely okay to do so. Going back to the late 1800s, there are only 3 years we’ve had a freeze in April.
