Richland Hills police say patrol vehicle was shot with officers inside

Police in Richland Hills say one of their vehicles was shot late Thursday while officers were inside it.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, which took place about 10 p.m. in the 7000 block of Baker Boulevard, where police headquarters is temporarily located during a remodel of the main police building.

According to police, a sergeant and a probationary officer were parking the marked unit when they heard multiple gunshots, one of which hit the vehicle.

The officers drove to the other side of the building to seek cover.

Neither officer was injured, and authorities are cntinuing to investigate.

“We were extremely fortunate that no one was injured from this direct attack,” police Chief Kimberly Sylvester said in a written statement. “Thank you to everyone who responded last night to assist and show support.”
