‘PPP believes in supremacy of parliament’

GUJAR KHAN: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) believes in supremacy of parliamentary politics as parliament is the august house of a democratic system, former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said while talking to journalists here on Sunday.

At the forum of PDM, the PPP advocated for participation in PDM allies in the by-elections and these polls were overwhelmingly won by the opposition candidates even at the home ground of the premier. He said the PPP had already completed its homework for the long march when the issue of resignations cropped up and the party leadership is committed to float this option at the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and take a consensus decision.

Mr Ashraf said parliament is the representative forum of political parties and it is the most appropriate forum to raise voices for the rights of people as they are internationally heard and acknowledged. He said during preliminary discussions PPP proposed to continue parliamentary politics instead of boycotting the by-elections.
