Here’s what Garland ISD has planned for graduation, prom

North Texas schools are slowly returning to normal as COVID-19 case numbers drop and the vaccine rollout progresses.

Last spring, high school seniors were forced to miss out on many monumental moments, including traditional prom and graduation ceremonies. Here are the questions — and answers — about how those senior events will look at Garland ISD this year.

Will Garland ISD have prom?

Yes. According to district spokesperson Caren Rodriguez, Garland ISD is planning to hold proms, but details are still being finalized.

“Proms are being scheduled with the understanding that the pandemic is still a fluid situation,” Rodriguez said. “Families can contact their high school for details.”

Will there be in-person graduations?

Yes. All Garland high schools will graduate in-person at the Curtis Culwell Center on June 8, 9 and 10.

Here is the schedule for the Garland class of 2021 graduations:

  • 5 p.m. — Sachse High School

Wednesday, June 9:
