Grand Prairie’s total COVID-19 case count crosses over 22,000, plus what’s open and where to get tested

COVID-19 vaccinations are continuing in North Texas and across the country, with Grand Prairie encouraging residents who are eligible for the vaccine to register online. Dallas County residents can register here.

Effective March 29, all adults are now eligible to get the vaccine.

Starting Wed., March 10, Dallas County residents and all other Texans will no longer be required to wear a face mask in public. Businesses can also open at full capacity, as part of the new order from Gov. Greg Abbott

County judges will be able to impose their own coronavirus restrictions if COVID-19 hospitalizations rise above 15% in their region for seven straight days.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this year, Grand Prairie has recorded a total of 22,728 cases as of Thursday and 219 deaths, according to the city’s website.

Grand Prairie is located mostly in Dallas and Tarrant counties, with a small portion in Ellis County. Dallas County updates case numbers for cities Tuesday and Friday and does not report which cases are considered active or recovered.

Grand Prairie opened its first vaccination hub at The Theatre at Grand Prairie in partnership with Irving.
