Police searching for man who tried to kidnap a woman walking her dog in south Denton

Denton police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who tried to kidnap a woman Saturday morning while she was walking her dog in south Denton.

Police said the woman had been walking about 11:45 a.m. in the 2000 block of Del Mar Court when the man drove up next to her, held up a gun and ordered her to get inside his SUV.

She got into the vehicle but escaped after a short distance and the man drove away, police said. She did not suffer any physical injuries.

Police said the man was driving a silver or light blue older SUV with a dark interior.

Fifteen minutes before the woman called Denton police, another woman reported a similar incident to Corinth police, authorities said. A link between the two incidents has not been confirmed, but police are investigating the possibility.

Anyone who sees a suspicious vehicle matching the description in this incident may call 911. People who recognize the vehicle or who have information may call Denton police at (940) 349-7812.
