Centurion: South Africa men’s cricket team have been fined 20% of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against Pakistan in the first ODI.
The Match Referee imposed the sanction after Proteas were one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration on Friday.
South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma has pleaded guilty for the offense levelled by Andrew Pycroft of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, and therefore there was no need for a formal hearing.
Umpires Marais Erasmus, Adrian Holdstock, Allahudien Paleker and Bongani Jele had leveled the charge against the hosts.
Remember, Pakistan won the first ODI of the three-match series by three wickets at SuperSport Park, Centurion.
