Teen accused of shooting stepfather to death in SW Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A teen is accused of shooting his stepfather to death at a restaurant in the southwest Houston area.

Houston police said the incident happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 11200 block of Bellaire Boulevard. An officer was investigating an unrelated scene in the area when he was flagged down about the shooting.

Police said a family was having a celebration at a restaurant when the suspect, who is believed to be 16 years old, shot his stepfather. The victim, who is said to be an Asian man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A firearm was recovered at the scene and the teen suspect was taken into custody.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The cause of the shooting remains unknown. Houston police said they are still working on gathering more information.
