Storms possible on Mothers Day

Saturday was warm and windy across North Texas. Winds gusted over 40 mph in many areas, and a Wind Advisory remains in effect through 10 pm.

Sunday’s weather looks good for most of Mothers Day. But a cold front will move into the area late in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms will develop along that front, and increase as they spread into east Texas. While the threat will be greater east of Dallas, we can’t discount the possibility of a few hail producing storms in DFW between 3 and 6 pm.

After that, we anticipate a significant cool down behind the front. The front will stall in south Texas, and a series of upper level disturbances will bring increasing rain chances Monday and Tuesday. While there may be occasional rumbles of thunder, no severe weather is expected during that time frame. But an inch or two of rain is likely, along with highs in the 60s for several days.
