28-year-old woman found dead with gunshot wound in far northeast Dallas, police say

A 28-year-old woman was found dead with a gunshot wound at a home Sunday morning in far northeast Dallas.

Authorities found Dyrelle Neakole Smith’s body about 7 a.m. in the 9600 block of Forest Lane, near Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway.

During an investigation, police determined that Smith’s ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Jeremiah Larique Henderson, was a suspect in her death.

Police believe a domestic disturbance between Henderson and Smith led to the fatal shooting.

Henderson was found about 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of Rochester Street with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further information was available.
