Dry for most today, but we’re keeping an eye on two rainmakers coming for Texas

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Two rainmakers are moving toward Texas, and the first one impacts us this weekend.

Saturday still looks to be mostly cloudy but mostly dry. Temperatures will start off in the mid 60s then warm into the mid 80s during the afternoon with just an isolated shower or storm possible. The Gulf breeze will blow at 10-20 mph, bringing back the moisture ahead of a rainy weather disturbance moving through Sunday.

What are we expecting for rain chances this weekend?
Rain chances will stay low on Saturday at just 20%, but they increase to 60% Sunday as deep moisture moves overhead. You can keep your outdoor plans for Sunday, but draw up a “plan B” just in case the weather alters those plans.

What can we expect with the bigger weather system after the weekend?
It looks like this will bring higher chances for rainfall Tuesday and Wednesday. This storm system has the potential to bring widespread rain to Texas, including heavy, training thunderstorms. We don’t yet know how they will impact us, but there is the potential to pick up several inches of rain.

Could any storms turn severe?
While street flooding will be our primary concern, it is possible that storms on Tuesday and Wednesday could turn severe.
