Storms for some this morning, much more to come

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’re already seeing an active radar across southeast Texas this morning, with plenty more rain to come later today and in the days that follow. A disturbance moving through the area is bringing showers and storms southwest of Houston this morning. The best chance of rain Sunday will be in the afternoon to evening. Rain chances continue throughout the week. We also are watching the potential of heavy rainfall this week… especially Wednesday.

What are we expecting for rain chances this weekend?
Rain chances increase to 70% Sunday as deep moisture moves overhead. If you have outdoor plans be sure to draw up a “plan B” just in case the weather alters those plans. The highest chances of rain Sunday will be in the afternoon to evening.

What can we expect with the bigger weather system after the weekend?
It looks like this will bring higher chances for rainfall Tuesday through Thursday. This storm system has the potential to bring widespread rain to Texas, including heavy, training thunderstorms. We expect to pick up several inches of rain area-wide, and need to be aware for the potential to see some street flooding.

Could any storms turn severe?
While street flooding will be our primary concern, it is possible that storms on Tuesday and Wednesday could turn severe.
