Man attempting self-immolation dies at hospital

LAHORE: A 60-year-old man who had allegedly attempted self-immolation in Samanabad two days ago, succumbed to his burns at a hospital here on Sunday.

According to police investigator Farooq Ahmed, the deceased, Naveed, of Paki Thathi area, after developing differences with his family over some issue, attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze at his house.

He said the man suffered more than 70 percent burns and was admitted to hospital, where he died on Sunday.

He said the dead body was handed over to the victim’s family after completion of legal formalities. He added that the family did not want any legal proceedings in the matter.
