Return of rain and storms begins today

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The return of rain and storms begins Tuesday.

We’ve already started to see wet roads during the morning commute, and there’s high confidence in the forecast that we’ll be in for a stormy pattern at least through the weekend.

Scattered showers and storms will be possible throughout the day Tuesday. Rain chances will increase midweek.

How much rain has your part of town received so far?

What are we expecting this week?
We are heading in to another wet and unsettled weather pattern for most of the week, as southerly winds keep moisture in place across SE Texas. Expect a warm, humid, and wet week ahead.

It sure has been raining a lot, hasn’t it?
Yes it has! We saw over 11 inches of rain in May at IAH. That accounts for more than half our rainfall total on the year.
Will the rain chances continue into the weekend?
At the moment, it looks like it. We have in a 60% chance for both days, but it’s possible that this rain chance could go up more. It will depend on timing and location of an upper level low that is expected to move across Texas over the weekend. If you have outdoor plans, make sure you stay weather aware and up to date with our latest forecasts.
