Heavy rain wraps up Memorial Day weekend, flooding roads across Dallas-Fort Worth

North Texas had a wet end to its Memorial Day weekend as thunderstorms brought a deluge of rain to the region.

Multiple flash-flood warnings were issued in Dallas and Tarrant counties Monday afternoon and evening as a line of storms brought heavy rainfall to the area, flooding roads and areas with poor drainage.

About 1.7 inches of rain had been recorded at DFW International Airport by 10 p.m., bringing the total for May to about 7.8 inches — slightly above average for the month.

Rain showers and storms are expected to continue late Monday but taper off after midnight, according to the weather service. A wider flash-flood watch for North Texas is in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

More storms and rain are expected Tuesday, and chances for rainy weather will continue throughout the week.

Severe-weather threats are low this week, according to KXAS-TV (NBC5).
