2 of 3 people killed in apparent murder-suicide at Forth Worth apartment identified, officials say

A woman, a teenage boy and one other person were found shot to death early Tuesday at a west Fort Worth apartment in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said.

Fort Worth police were dispatched about 12:15 a.m. to The Life at Westland Estates apartments in the 2900 block of Jonah Drive, not far from South Loop 820, where they found three bodies.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office on Wednesday identified two of the victims as Holly Beverly, 39, and Titus Akins, 17. Both of their deaths were homicides, according to the medical examiner.

The third person has not been publicly identified.

Fort Worth police spokesman Buddy Calzada said he believes the three people knew each other and the shooting was during a domestic disturbance.

Calzada said there was no immediate threat to the public and police were investigating for more information.

One neighbor told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that she heard banging at the apartment around midnight and a man shouting “give me my boy, give me that boy” before a shotgun blast rang out.

Shotgun shells littered the area around the apartment by the time police arrived, and the door to the home looked as if it had been shot in, the neighbor told the Star-Telegram.

According to a GoFundMe page, Beverly taught at Hope Works Christian Academy, where Titus, her son, graduated in May.
