2-year-old girl dies after being hit by vehicle backing out of driveway in Old East Dallas

A young girl died Friday evening after being hit by a car in Old East Dallas.

Officers were called just after 7 p.m. to the 4800 block of Parry Avenue, north of Fair Park, where the accident was reported.

According to police, a 2-year-old girl was sitting with an adult on a bench in the front yard of a home as a 17-year-old male relative started backing a truck out of the driveway. The girl ran toward the truck and was hit by the right rear tire.

The girl, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
