Man identified after death that Fort Worth police say was either a shooting or a fall

A man died after a shooting was reported near downtown Fort Worth on Thursday afternoon, but police were not yet sure how he died.

Police were called about 2:30 p.m. to the 700 block of North Hampton Street, where a 911 caller said that a man had been shot outside an apartment.

Officers found the man in a breezeway, and he was pronounced dead there. The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified him as Trenton Chambers, 20, of Dallas.

Police said it was not clear whether Chambers had been shot or whether he had fallen, and the medical examiner’s office had not determined his cause of death. Homicide detectives were investigating.
