17-year-old fatally shot in Fort Worth

A 17-year-old died after he was shot Saturday in Fort Worth, police said.

Officers responded to the shooting about noon in the 1500 block of Denver Avenue, near Jacksboro Highway and West Northside Drive, and found Joshua Smith with a gunshot wound to his torso.

The medical examiner’s office identified Smith after he died at a nearby hospital.

Police did not provide any details about what led to the shooting, and they said no suspect was in custody.
