Provision of official documents linked with Covid vaccination

PESHAWAR: The district administration of Peshawaron Monday made vaccination against coronavirus mandatory for the people seeking essential official documents.

It formally directed the relevant officials to provide land registry, fard, mutation attestation, domicile certificates, licences, NOCs, arms licences, benevolent fund and other services to the people only on the production of the Covid-19 vaccination report.

In another notification, deputy commissioner Khalid Mahmood directed the managers of Hayatabad and Kohat Road industrial estates to vaccinate workers against the virus and warned that those refusing inoculation would face action.

He said the Covid-19 vaccination campaign had gained momentum and that the people should visit the inoculation centres along with family members above 18 years of age to protect themselves from the infection.

The deputy commissioner said the vaccine was safe.

“Only vaccination can help us resume normal life, so all segments of society should play the due role in the removal of vaccination reluctance to ensure the safety of all,” he said.

Mr Khalid said the administration had made elaborate arrangements for the free vaccination of the people against the virus for their healthy life.

Meanwhile, the government has announced that all commercial activities except essential businesses will continue to be closed at 8pm in line with the decision of the National Command Operation Centres to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

A notification issued by the home and tribal affairs department read, “in pursuance of the NCOC’s decision taken on June 9 coupled with the declaration of emergency by the health department, the power conferred under sections 6(b), 6(d) and 7 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Epidemic Control and Emergency Relief Act, 2020, the competent authority has imposed restrictions for the respective sectors from June 15.”

According to it, establishments and markets except medical services, pharmacies, vaccination centres, tandoors, milk shops, hotels and restaurants (outdoor dining until 11:59pm and takeaway 24/7), e-commerce (home delivery), utility services including electricity, natural gas, internet, cellular network/telecom and call centres, petrol pumps and agricultural machineries, shops and workshops will be allowed to operate 24/7.

“All types of commercial activities, establishments and markets will be completely closed for once a week with the choice of the day being the discretion of the district administration. The general and karyana stores, meat and chicken shops, bakeries, fruit and vegetable outlets will stay open until 8pm. The indoor marriages and functions shall remain banned throughout the province,” it said.

The notification also said outdoor wedding ceremonies with 150 guests in attendance would be allowed under strict enforcement of Covid-19 SOPs, while indoor and outdoor gatherings, including cultural, musical and religious events, would continue to be banned.

It added that all public and private offices and departments would resume work with full attendance and the use of face mask had been made mandatory for all public places.

“The public transport, including intra-city, inter-city and inter-provincial ones, are allowed to operate with 70 per cent capacity, while cinemas and shrines shall remain closed throughout the province.

“Sports activities, including those of karate, boxing, martial arts, rugby, water polo, kabaddi and wrestling, festivals, cultural events and other activities shall remain banned throughout the province,” it said.

The notification said all amusement parks, water sports, swimming pools and walking and jogging tracks had been allowed to stay open.

It added that all types of indoor gyms would remain open for vaccinated members only and that the responsibility of staff vaccination would rest with the owners.

The notification said tourism sector in the province was open with stringent protocols as notified by the tourism department.

“The district administration and police shall work in close liaison to ensure strict implementation of these instructions,” it said warning violators of the directives of action in accordance with the relevant law.
