Grapevine Fire Department seeking first responders to participate in 9/11 memorial march

The Grapevine Fire Department is looking for hundreds of first responders to participate in a Sept. 11 event this fall.

The department’s Honor Guard is seeking 455 first responders, from any city, to march on Saturday, Sept. 11, to “honor and remember the 343 firefighters, 70 police officers, nine EMS providers, and 33 flight crew members who perished on September 11, 2001,” according to Grapevine.

“Each active-duty first responder will march in their full duty uniforms (full bunker gear for firefighters) from our 9/11 Memorial,” the department wrote on Facebook.

The march will begin at 1000 Texan Trail and end at Peace Plaza at Grapevine Main Station, 815 S. Main St.

Each uniformed participant will carry the name and photo of a a fallen first responder or flight crew member, according to the department.
