Body of 55-year-old man recovered from Joe Pool Lake, officials say

The Grand Prairie Fire Department on Saturday said it had recovered the body of a 55-year-old man from Joe Pool Lake.

A dive team for the city found the body around 8:15 a.m. Saturday, officials said. The Dallas County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released the man’s name.

The Fire Department said it was notified about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday of a possible drowning in the lake. A witness reported that a man had gone underwater while swimming and not resurfaced, the department said. He was not wearing a life vest at the time.

“The city of Grand Prairie sends its condolences to the victim’s family,” the department said in a written statement. “As the lake season continues, GPFD strongly encourages the public to wear a life vest or an appropriate personal floating device while near the water.”
