Texas reports 1,978 COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths; Tarrant County adds 58 cases, 1 death

Across the state, 1,978 more COVID-19 cases were reported Saturday, including 1,280 new cases and 698 older ones recently reported by labs.

The state also reported 25 COVID-19 deaths, raising its toll to 51,188.

Of the new cases, 888 were confirmed and 392 were probable. Of the older cases, 536 were confirmed and 162 were probable.

The state updated its overall and confirmed case totals Saturday to reflect 96 confirmed cases that were removed from Ellis County and 37 confirmed cases that were removed from Walker County.

The state’s case total is now 2,984,022, including 2,542,877 confirmed and 441,145 probable.

According to the state, 13,745,766 people in Texas have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 11,703,852 — 48.6% of the state’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Dallas County

Dallas County is no longer reporting COVID-19 data over the weekend.

As of Friday, there were 305,969 total cases in the county, including 262,615 confirmed and 43,354 probable. The death toll is 4,120.

According to the state, 1,248,990 people in Dallas County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 1,055,642 — 48.4% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County reported one death and 58 cases Saturday.

No details about the latest victim were made available.

Of the new cases, 52 were confirmed and six were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 263,178, including 219,880 confirmed and 43,298 probable. The death toll is 3,566.

According to the state, 931,081 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 815,342 — 46.9% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Collin County

The state added one death and 26 cases to Collin County’s totals Saturday.

No details about the latest victim were available.

Of the new cases, 21 were confirmed and five were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 92,778, including 75,866 confirmed and 16,912 probable. The death toll is 845.

According to the state, 574,861 people in Collin County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 504,686 — 58.3% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Denton County

Denton County no longer releases COVID-19 data over the weekend.

As of Friday, the county had a total of 76,891 COVID-19 cases, including 56,318 confirmed and 20,573 probable. The death toll stood at 615.

According to the state, 448,297 people in Denton County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 390,820 — 52.1% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Other counties

The Texas Department of State Health Services has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some counties, new data may not be reported every day.

The latest numbers are:

  • Rockwall County: 11,842 cases (9,458 confirmed and 2,384 probable), 158 deaths.
  • Kaufman County: 16,500 cases (13,632 confirmed and 2,868 probable), 266 deaths.
  • Ellis County: 23,217 cases (19,118 confirmed and 4,099 probable), 323 deaths.
  • Johnson County: 20,127 cases (16,995 confirmed and 3,132 probable), 375 deaths.
