Thunderstorms return to the forecast

Saturday was rain-free and very warm with highs in the mid-90s. But Thunderstorms erupted in west Texas, and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch was posted for areas generally to the west of Wichita Falls.

A few of those storms may last long enough to drift nearly to DFW before sunrise, but most of us will stay dry.

Much of Sunday will be dry as well, but a cold front entering northwest Texas will again trigger a few late-day thunderstorms. Again most of the storms will remain west of DFW, but it is possible a few could reach DFW.

The overall pattern becomes more unsettled next week. With a stationary front to the NW, and a tropical wave approaching from the east, we will see daily rain chances. And the increasing clouds and rain will hold temperatures well below normal for most of the next week. But humidity levels will remain on the muggy side. Some heavy rain is possible Monday and Tuesday, perhaps one to two inches.
