Missing McKinney teen located in Illinois; man found with her arrested

An 18-year-old man has been arrested after being found with a missing Collin County teenager in Illinois, authorities say.

The mother of a 15-year-old McKinney girl reported her daughter as a runaway on Friday, according to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, and said the teen was believed to be headed to Illinois with 18-year-old Kelvin Simmons.

Illinois state police soon located the pair in the city of Lincoln, about 150 miles southwest of Chicago and more than 700 miles from the girl’s home.

Simmons was arrested on a charge of unlawful restraint and was being held in the Logan County, Ill., jail. His bail was set at $200,000, and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
