Wet weekend, but dry for most by firework time

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Another wet and stormy weather pattern is upon us.

A summer front has pushed a lot of moisture over Southeast Texas, and once temperatures warm into the mid 80s Saturday, widespread showers and thunderstorms will pop up. Some of these slow-moving downpours could drop a quick inch or two of rain and lead to localized street flooding. These will be mostly daytime thunderstorms, so it should be mostly dry and rain-cooled by Saturday evening. Your chance of rain is 80%.

When is it most likely to rain on Independence Day?

We’ve dropped your rain chance for Sunday down to 60%, and it could go even lower. It all depends on how far south the front pushes the moisture. Most of the rain Sunday will fall during the daylight hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. That means by firework time the sky should be dry but the ground will likely be wet.

How long will this wet weather pattern stick around?
Rain chances will increase to 70% on Monday then 80% on Tuesday when deep tropical moisture arrives. After another very wet day on Wednesday, rain chances will begin to fall late next week.

How much rain can we expect?
Over the next 7 days, most of us will pick up 3-6″ of rain, but there is the potential for over 8″ in isolated spots.
