Instructor at Plano middle school accused of indecency with a child

A Plano middle school instructor has been arrested after he was accused of sending inappropriate messages to a juvenile.

Khmaree Jawan McCray, 25, of McKinney faces two counts of indecency with a child. He was being held Wednesday at the Collin County jail with bail set at $55,000, and he did not have an attorney listed in court records.

Police said they were notified in early June that a juvenile had received inappropriate messages over social media from an employee at Haggard Middle School. Their investigation led to two arrest warrants for McCray, who was listed on the school’s website as an assistant in-school suspension instructor.

McCray was taken into custody Wednesday.

Police did not say whether the juvenile in the case was a student at the school.

In a letter to parents, Haggard principal Shauna Koehne said that McCray was no longer employed by Plano ISD and that the school and district were cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities are continuing to investigate, and anyone with information about McCray or a similar incident may contact police at 972-941-2148.
