Man, 21, charged with murder after confessing to killing mother, Fort Worth police say

A man is in the Tarrant County jail on a murder charge after admitting to fatally shooting a woman, Fort Worth police said.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday, officers were notified of the shooting in the 1300 block of Royster Road, near Altamesa Boulevard and Village Parkway, police said. They found 61-year-old Alice Brown shot there, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested 21-year-old Calvin Brown, the victim’s son.

According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, Calvin Brown said that he fired the gun after he got into an argument with his mother and that he hadn’t intended to shoot her because he aimed the gun above her.
