Man found fatally shot at Dallas homeless encampment, police say

Dallas police are investigating the death of a man who was found shot at a homeless encampment Sunday morning.

Officers were called about 8:45 a.m. to the 1700 block of Chestnut Street, on the border of Deep Ellum and South Dallas, police said.

The man, identified as Lonnie Lewis, was found with a gunshot wound to his left bicep, investigators said.

What led to the shooting is not known, police said.
