Broken fire hydrant floods Ross Avenue near North Central Expressway in Old East Dallas

A broken fire hydrant on a 16-inch water main has caused major flooding on Ross Avenue near North Central Expressway in Old East Dallas late Wednesday.

KXAS-TV (NBC5) crews witnessed thousands of gallons of water rushing through the street.

The Dallas Water Utilities Department said that the broken fire hydrant caused the flooding and that crews were en route to make repairs.

There was no word on whether any nearby buildings had been damaged.
