Scattered downpours Friday, drier this weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Deep moisture will remain over Houston Friday, bringing more widespread clouds and scattered downpours. If you do get any rain, you’ll probably get less than half an inch, but some of the heavier downpours could drop a quick inch in some spots. Your chance of rain is at 40%.

Temperatures will drop into the mid 70s overnight, then briefly warm above 90 before the clouds, shower, and rain-cooled air drop temperatures back into the 80s for the majority of the afternoon.

What do we expect for the weekend?
The deep moisture will move away from us this weekend, bringing back mid-90-degree heat and heat index values over 100. There will still be enough moisture for a 20% chance of a cooling afternoon downpour Saturday and Sunday.

Is there anything to be concerned about in the tropics?
At this time, no, but we are seeing signs that the Atlantic hurricane season is about to come back to life. Vigorous tropical waves coming out of Africa could develop as we get deeper into August. You can stay on top of everything happening in the tropics with our daily tropical update.
