Man barricades himself in home with 4 kids after shooting wife, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A standoff that began after a shooting Saturday afternoon at a southeast Houston home ended after four hours, police said.

SWAT officers with the Houston Police Department responded to the shooting call in the 6300 block of Belmark Street around 4 p.m.

The woman, identified as the suspect’s wife, was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

Four children were inside the home during the ordeal, police said. Everyone was safe after it was over.

Officials told the oldest child was 9 years old and the youngest was a toddler.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, opened fire during an argument over beer, police said.
